In early 2007 Award winning VFX Art Director, Alp Altiner established his self financed Studio Bionic Unit Media and Publishing. A Los Angeles based small press, and a division of Altiner Productions, LLC; Bionic Unit specializes in the creation of comic book properties for Film, TV, Toy and Video Game development. Bionic Unit was formed because of Altiner’s passion and energy for comics, and his drive for wanting to create well-developed stories, and combine them with the highest quality artwork in the medium of Comic books, Graphic Novels and Art-books.

Starting his career back in 2000 at Image and then moving to Top Cow, Altiner’s worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Mark Silvestri, Jim Valentino and Todd McFarlane. Altiner’s amazing artwork speaks for itself. His work is so stylized and clearly professional that it is apparent that he learned his craft from such luminaries of the industry.  

He left comics to work on video games as a freelance concept artist and shortly after that become a successful VFX concept artist and matte painter on feature films. He’s worked on some of the most iconic comic book films of all time including “Superman Returns”, “Spider-Man 3”, “X-Men: The Last Stand”, “Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer” and “300”. But now after years away he has retuned to the medium that he loves by creating Bionic Unit. 

The first title, "The Art Of The Unknown " is a science-fiction action-adventure Graphic Novel that will be Co-published worldwide by Scott Robertson, Founder of Design Studio Press in 2008. This Graphic Novel already has received worldwide exposure trough magazines such as Imagine FX, and several websites, receiving thousands of hits. The Promo Comic Book and Collectible Toys were showcased at the Wizard World Los Angeles Convention in 2007.

Bionic Unit will continue to publish exciting new Art-books, Comics and Graphic Novel projects worldwide for the expanding comic book culture. Already a relationship has been established between Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Target and many other distribution channels with Bionic Unit.

Also, launching in July, “Team 14”. “Team 14” is a cross between “Ghostbusters” and “X-Files”. It’s about a secret government agency that exists within the FBI, specializing in the field of the paranormal investigating crimes committed by supernatural beings.  

And keep an eye out for, “The Other Side”, a psychological Thriller in the form of a Graphic Novel created by Alp Altiner and illustrated by Moritat. Also, coming soon from Bionic Unit, “The Untold Tales”, is a fantasy graphic novel of five short stories. The project created and developed by Altiner will be edited by Bionic Unit Production Manager, Jami Philbrick and written and drawn by various writers and artists. Bionic Unit is currently excepting submissions from artists for this project. 

Bionic Unit is devoted to creating strong and unique comic book projects and will continue to do so.
